Choosing help

How to choose a therapist, counselor, or psychologist.

The right fit matters. A man should know the difference between provider types, how to judge fit, and what questions to ask before he commits.

Questions to ask

  • What kinds of issues do you work with most?
  • How do you work with men?
  • What happens in the first session?
  • How do you define progress?
  • How do you handle confidentiality?

What to look for

  • plain language
  • respectful boundaries
  • experience with the issue
  • no performative jargon
  • steady, honest communication

Provider types

Counselor, therapist, psychologist, and psychiatrist are not the same thing. The site should explain that distinction clearly in later depth if needed.

Good fit

A good fit feels direct, safe, and useful. It should not feel like a performance or a sales conversation.
